Gonzalo "Gonzo" Flores
Traditional Indigenous Healer, Curandero & Shaman
Gonzo Flores holds a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. He began his training in East Asian medicine in Okinawa, Japan in 1976. He has practiced and teaches Traditional Okinawan Karate for over 40 years. He is the Co-Founder of GroundSpring Healing Center, established in 2001. Over the last 20 years Mr. Flores practiced acupuncture and specializes in neurological and autoimmune disorders, neurological and musculoskeletal pain syndromes. He was National Director of Education for the AOBTA, a Certified Instructor in Medical Qigong, an active member of both state and national associations in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine as well as IASP, (International Association for the Study of Pain), APS, (American Pain Society) and studied Visceral and Neural Manipulation with the Barral Institute under the teachings of Jean Pierre Barral, DO and Alain Crobier, DO. Gonzo has served on national advisory boards for physical medicine, pain medicine, scientific herbal advisory boards, as well as an IRB, (Institutional Review Board, a scientific committee that evaluates ethics and humanitarian guidelines) for human studies conducted at regional hospitals in the Pacific Northwest.
Gonzo is a certified master herbalist in both Chinese and Western herbs. His study and research in pain mechanisms of herbal pharmacology is extensive. He completed a two year intensive homeopathy training with the New England School of Homeopathy, under Paul Herscu, ND and Amy Rothernburg, ND. Gonzo is an expert in both Classical Chinese Astrology and Native American Astrology. He provides consultations and services for both kinds of astrology. As an enrolled member of the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas, Gonzo is the tribe’s Director of Economic Development. He is also a 7th generation Traditional Curandero (a traditional indigenous healer in Latino communities), as well as the Official Medicine Man for the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas. He is the curator of the Don Pedro Jaramillo Shrine, one of the “Apache Holy Lands” which is located in South Texas. After 20 years of practicing medicine using acupuncture, Gonzo has now shifted his focus to the health and wellness of the spirit and the soul. He offers exclusively educational seminars and mentorships. He continues to teach and share his traditional indigenous knowledge with his tribe as well as those who are willing to learn of his family’s traditional healing ways. Gonzo provides consultations in herbal therapies, Native American ceremonies and healings, Curandero healings known as “Limpias” (in Spanish it translates to ‘clearing or cleaning’), as well as other shamanic practices. |
